What to Look For

DebSuperfoods contain a variety of different nutrients in addition to vitamins and minerals – like amino acids, enzymes, essential fatty acids and more. Because they contain so many beneficial ingredients, they are considered nutrient-dense, and therefore, “Super”.

There are several things to look at when evaluating a superfood powder, many of which come down to personal preference. For example, some features, like “100% organic ingredients” may matter more to you than “gluten-free” or vice versa.

Along with price, I look at servings per container and also the number of servings of fruits/vegetables per serving (if that makes sense). These powders are so dense with no fillers that it’s amazing how little you need to have to get a complete day’s supply of fruits and vegetables – not to mention all of the superfood goodness.

Features to Look For

These features are not necessarily “must haves”, but can help your decision-making easier when purchasing products. The way I see it, the more benefits I can get for my money, the better value I am getting.

  • Gluten-free product
  • Vegan product
  • Organic ingredients
  • Raw ingredients
  • Probiotics included, these can help with faster nutrient absorption
  • Fiber included
  • Vegetarian capsules (if you are getting superfood capsules vs a powder)

Specific Superfood Ingredients

Of course, you can compare ingredients as well. Generally, superfood powders contain a variety of different superfoods, which in turn, lets you enjoy more benefits from a single product.

That said, you may have specific health issues you are trying to address, in which case you may want to look for specific superfoods to be included in your powder. Here is a short list of popular superfoods (and their main benefits) that you may want to take note of.
